'Manikarnika': On Kangana Ranaut becoming director, team issues clarification
'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' is an upcoming film starring Kangana Ranaut. Kangana's massive interference in the film was no secret and when people saw her name on the movie's clapboard in the director's section, rumors began to fly that Kangana was helming the film. However, the 'Queen' actress and her team rushed to deny the rumors. Here's what they said.
After rumors gained momentum, team rushed to clarify
Kangana and her team immediately quelled the rumors of her being the director. She maintained it was a temporary adjustment. They claimed Krish Jagarlamudi was and would remain the director of the film. Kangana had just momentarily stepped into his shoes to shoot some patchwork, so the film could release as scheduled on January 25, 2019.
Everything is in its right place
The team clarified that there was no quarrel between Krish and Kangana. She was just filling in for him as he had other commitments, and the clapboard was to avoid confusion on sets. Citing the example of the popular television show 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S', Kangana's spokesperson said that it was a common practice in Hollywood for actors to step up as directors if the situation demanded.

Not her first controversy though
However, Kangana is no stranger to controversies. Just recently, she had a major fallout with her scriptwriter Apurva Asrani while working on 'Simran'. The writer accused her of stealing credits from him. Notably, Kangana and director Hansal Mehta, both, denied the charges by Apurva. The actress even said that she took a shoddy script and made it better.
