'Most unfair...': Kangana Ranaut reacts to Olympics boxing match controversy
Bollywood actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has publicly criticized a contentious boxing match at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The match in question was between Italy's Angela Carini and Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who had previously been disqualified from the 2023 world championship due to failing an unspecified gender eligibility test. Ranaut voiced her concerns on Instagram, sharing a picture of Carini crying post-match with a broken nose.
'Guess who won the women's boxing match...'
In her Instagram post, Ranaut expressed her disapproval of the match outcome, stating, "This girl had to fight a 7 feet tall naturally born male...he beat her in the boxing ring like a male beats a female in physical abuse scenario but he says he identifies as a female so guess who won the women's boxing match?" She further criticized what she termed as "woke culture," calling it "the most unfair and unjust practice."
Ranaut advocated for authenticity
Ranaut further emphasized in her post that individuals should not feel compelled to imitate others for acceptance. "So basically to be able to have a woke relationship (homosexual relationship) one partner must play female role and the other one must play a male role. They love to play stereotypical male-female archetypes but simultaneously encourage regular women to be effeminate in the name of feminism." "Hmmm...strange!...I think they don't have to imitate anyone for acceptance."
'They don't need to play cheap, atrocious, inauthentic...'
The actor-turned-politician further wrote, "They don't need to play cheap, atrocious, inauthentic copies of men or women." "They are super brilliant, they should come out exactly the way God made them. There should not be any need to be in denial of your natural self," Ranaut said, adding, "They deserve better and we must make a safe world for them where they can be their natural authentic self and get equal opportunities."
Ranaut's previous criticisms of the Paris Olympics
Ranaut, who is set to portray former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in her upcoming directorial project Emergency, has previously criticized the Paris Olympics. Her criticism extended to the event's rendition of The Last Supper. Commenting on the opening ceremony, Ranaut wrote: "At the Olympics opening everything was about being homosexual." "Why are games, and sports participation of all nations to claim human excellence being taken over by sex?" she had reiterated.
