Kalki Kanmani is an Indian-origin French actress and writer who predominantly works in the Hindi film industry. She is the recipient of several accolades including two Screen Awards, a Filmfare Award, and a National Film Award. Koechlin was born on January 10, 1984, in Pondicherry to French parents who later settled in India. She completed her education at Goldsmiths, University of London. After completing her studies, she moved to Mumbai and worked with theater directors Ajay Krishnan and Atul Kumar. Koechlin made her big screen debut in 2009 with Anurag Kashyap’s black comedy film ‘Dev.D,’ which made her win the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. Following this, she went on to appear in films like ‘The Film Emotional Atyachar,’ ‘Shaitan,’ ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,’ ‘That Girl in Yellow Boots,’ ‘Shanghai,’ and ‘My Friend Pinto.’ She also expanded her career into screenwriting with the 2011 film ‘The Girl in Yellow Boots.’ In 2013, she gained success and popularity with ‘Ek Thi Daayan,’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.’ Koechlin is also passionate about writing poems and has also written a book titled ‘Elephant in the Womb.’
