'Kalki 2898 AD' overtakes 'Jawan' as India's 4th highest-grossing film
Since its release, Kalki 2898 AD has been setting new box office records. It is currently the biggest hit of the year and the highest-grossing foreign film in North America. The Nag Ashwin-directed film has now claimed the title of the fourth highest-grossing film in India, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan. The film, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone, has earned ₹640.3cr domestically and crossed the ₹1,100cr mark globally.
'Jawan' was a standout success in 2023
In 2023, SRK dominated the box office with three consecutive hits: Siddharth Anand's Pathaan, Atlee-directed Jawan, and Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki. Among these, Jawan was a standout success, earning a staggering ₹640.25 crore in India and becoming the biggest hit of Hindi Cinema. It was also the fourth highest-grossing Indian film after films like RRR, KGF 2, and Baahubali 2- The Conclusion.
'Kalki 2898 AD' earned over ₹640.25cr
Kalki has now rewritten records. The film's earnings were as follows: ₹414.85cr in Week 1, ₹128.5cr in Week 2, ₹56.1cr in Week 3, ₹24.4cr in Week 4, and ₹12.1cr in Week 5. In its sixth week, the film earned ₹65 lakh on Friday, ₹1.25cr on Saturday, and ₹1.80cr on Sunday. On Monday, the collection dropped to ₹50 lakh. According to early figures for Tuesday (Day 41), the film earned an additional ₹15 lakh, bringing its overall collection to ₹640.3cr
'Kalki 2898 AD' makers announced a special offer for fans
In celebration of crossing the ₹1,100cr mark globally, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD announced a special offer for fans. From August 2 to August 9, tickets for the film are being sold for only ₹100. A second part of Kalki 2898 AD is currently in development. In a recent interview, Ashwin assured fans that the wait for the sequel will not be as long as it was for the first film.
