Producers reveal when will 'Kalki 2' begin filming
The much-anticipated sequel to the blockbuster film Kalki 2898 AD, is set to begin filming in early 2025. Producers Priyanka Dutt and Swapna Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies revealed this information during an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha at the Moscow International Film Week. The sequel will reportedly focus on the character Yaskin, played by Kamal Haasan, and his dangerous mission.
Filming to start in January or February 2025
According to Priyanka, filming for Kalki 2 will commence in the next five or six months, indicating a start date around January or February 2025. Some portions of the sequel were already shot during the earlier schedules of the first film. The producers also shared that they are less nervous about the sequel's production compared to when they began filming Kalki 2898 AD in 2021.
Producers express excitement and confidence for sequel
Swapna expressed her excitement for the sequel, stating, "This time around, there's a lot more excitement than nervousness. I think there will be a lot more planning now." She further added, "Now that we've seen everything that Nagi [director Nag Ashwin] has done and understood the way the audience has received it, we're going on to part two with an altogether different energy." Kalki 2 is expected to take three years to complete.
'Kalki 2898 AD' receives widespread acclaim
Kalki 2898 AD, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone, has received widespread acclaim since its release in June. It is reportedly currently the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2024. The film was recently screened at the Moscow International Film Week and is now available for streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The movie also features cameos by SS Rajamouli and Vijay Deverakonda, among others.
