'Kalki 2898 AD': New poster discloses June 27 release date
The long-awaited moment has finally arrived! On Saturday, the creators of the highly-anticipated sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD revealed the film's release date. Originally slated for May 9, the release has now been rescheduled to June 27 due to the Lok Sabha Elections. Announcing on X/Twitter, the makers unveiled a new poster showcasing lead actors Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan, along with the newly revealed release date.

Sharing the anticipation on X, the makers unveiled a poster featuring Prabhas, Padukone, and Bachchan in their character roles, emanating dystopian vibes. The caption read: "All the forces come together for a better tomorrow on 𝟐𝟕-𝟎𝟔-𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, (sic)." While the plot specifics of Kalki remain undisclosed, the film is touted as a futuristic story deeply rooted in Indian mythology, as per the director Ashwin.

Bachchan to play the immortal Ashwatthama in 'Kalki'
Before this announcement, the Kalki team had released a poster featuring Bachchan standing with a long stick on Friday. The text on the poster read, "Dwaparyug se dashavatar ki pratiksha kar raha hu. Dronacharya ka putr, Ashwatthama," which translates to "Awaiting the arrival of Dashavatar from Dwaparyug. Son of Dronacharya, Ashwatthama." Last week, the team made the big reveal regarding Bachchan's character by unveiling his first look as the immortal Ashwatthama from the revered epic Mahabharata.

The film also features Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani. Meanwhile, reports indicate a guest appearance by Vijay Deverakonda, with speculation surrounding roles for Jr NTR and Nani in some scenes, too. The mythology-inspired sci-fi movie is produced by Aswini Dutt and will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The title suggests a narrative based on the lore of Kalyug and Kalki's avatar.
