'Kalki' ends theatrical run as fifth highest-grosser in India
Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD has concluded its theatrical run, with its eighth-week collections in India amounting to less than ₹25 lakh. The film recently made its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, typically signaling the end of a movie's run in theaters, particularly for South Indian films. The film has collected approximately ₹737 crore at the Indian box office and grossed ₹243 crore internationally, bringing its worldwide gross to ₹980 crore.
'Kalki 2898 AD' ranks fifth in India, seventh worldwide
Kalki 2898 AD has emerged as the fifth highest-grossing film in the history of the Indian box office. On a global scale, it ranks as the seventh highest-grossing Indian film, reported Pinkvilla. The movie had a strong start, earning over ₹100 crore on its opening day on June 27. It continued to perform well throughout July and into the first half of August and only faced competition recently from Stree 2.
Strong performance across India and overseas
Kalki 2898 AD performed well across India, including in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, where Prabhas's films have recently struggled. In Nizam, it became the second-highest grosser ever, trailing only RRR. Internationally, the film became the second highest-grossing film for the Telugu film industry overseas (excluding Japan) and the second highest-grossing Indian film in the United States. It is directed by Nag Ashwin and co-stars Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan.
