After Kangana Ranaut, Kajol to play Jayalalithaa in another biopic?
When Kangana Ranaut was roped in for a biopic on late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, it created ripples and became the talk of the town. Since then, several biopics have been announced on the legendary politician. The recent one to join the list is Sasi Lalitha, directed by K Jagadeeswara Reddy, which is likely to have Kajol essaying Jayalalithaa on the big screen.
Amala Paul to be Sasikala for this film
According to media reports, Reddy, who is also the president of Tamil Nadu Telugu Yuvasakthi, is keen to make a movie focusing on Jayalalithaa's bond with her close aide, Sasikala. The reports further suggested that he is planning to bring in Tamil actress Amala Paul to play Sasikala in the movie. However, an official announcement is yet to be made for the same.
Amala's ex-husband directing Jayalalithaa's bilingual biopic featuring Kangana
Interestingly, AL Vijay, who is Amala's ex-husband, will be making the biopic on Jayalalithaa with Kangana in the lead. It will be a bilingual film and will be released in Hindi and Tamil. While the Hindi version of the movie is titled as Jaya, the Tamil version will be called Thalaivi, which means revolutionary leader, a term people used for Jayalalithaa.
Vijay praises Kangana, calls her 'one of India's biggest star'
Citing it as a big opportunity, Vijay is ecstatic about the Jayalalithaa biopic. He is also elated to work with Kangana and lauded her acting prowess. "Making a film on Jayalalithaa's life is a big responsibility. Am proud and happy with our association with one of India's biggest star, Kangana Ranaut, to portray the dynamic role of a dynamic leading," Vijay was quoted saying.
Several other filmmakers have also announced biopic on Jayalalithaa
Meanwhile, apart from Vijay and Reddy, several other filmmakers have announced biopics on Jayalalithaa and Sasikala. The list includes Lingusamy, Ram Gopal Varma and Bharathiraaja, as of now. Looks like it is raining Jayalalithaa biopics in showbiz these days.
