CM Kumaraswamy doesn't think Rajinikanth's 'Kaala' should release in Karnataka
Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has suggested the makers of Rajinikanth starrer 'Kaala' to avoid releasing the film in the state, given the present circumstances. His remark came soon after the Karnataka High Court directed the state government to provide security for the peaceful release of the film. However, he said he is ready to comply with the court's order.
Kumaraswamy shared his viewpoint
After hearing the directive, Kumaraswamy said, "As head of the Karnataka government, it's my responsibility to implement the judgments and directions of the High Court." "But according to my observation as an individual, in this kind of atmosphere, it's not good on part of the producer, distributor to release the movie," he added.
Several pro-Kannada groups had threatened to stall 'Kaala'
Rajinikanth's remarks on the Cauvery water sharing row offended several pro-Kannada groups who threatened to take extreme steps if 'Kaala' gets a release in Karnataka. Citing the tense situation, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) then decided to ban the film in the state.
Dhanush had moved HC for 'Kaala' release in Karnataka
Rajnikanth's son-in-law and 'Kaala' producer Dhanush, along with director wife Aishwarya, had moved the Karnataka High Court seeking direction for police protection to exhibitors from pro-Kannada activists. After passing the order, the court also asked for the names of distributors who bought the film's rights and list of exhibitors who are ready to screen it.
