Actor Justin Long and his brother believe they have coronavirus
Justin Long just came up with a worrying revelation. In a new episode of his podcast Life is Short, the Hollywood actor (41) and his brother, fellow actor Christian (38), said they strongly believe they have contracted the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), which has killed thousands across the globe. However, the brothers added that despite showing symptoms, they haven't been able to get tested.
Justin and Christian have been quarantining for two weeks
During an episode titled "Quarantine Check-In" of the podcast posted Monday, the brothers said they have been in self-isolation for nearly 14 days and experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms. "We should tell everyone that you actually might have corona. You think you do. I think I might have it as well," Justin said. To this, Christian replied, "I do have it. We're not just being paranoid."
The brothers explained why they suspect they're infected
The brothers then explained why they suspect they've contracted the deadly virus. Christian's girlfriend, Maggie, got ill soon after she returned from a work trip abroad, Justin revealed. "She had classic corona symptoms," the actor added, before naming chills, fever and dry cough. Thereafter, Christian added that his girlfriend has been dealing with symptoms for about 12 days and is now feeling better.
After Maggie's illness, Christian and Justin displayed symptoms
Justin and Christian informed listeners that shortly after Maggie's illness, they also displayed mild versions of the same symptoms as hers. Justin added that Christian and Maggie also started to lose their sense of smell and taste, a symptom which doctors recently found to be associated with the virus. In spite of this, the brothers said they could not get tested for the virus.
The brothers couldn't test as they're not in high-risk group
Justin said they were denied a COVID-19 test as they do not belong to a high-risk group, "which is older people and people with compromised immune systems, or it has to be... severe enough in your system." "It's like we have corona-lite," Christian joked about being unable to get tested. You can listen to the full podcast by heading to this link: Wondery.com/shows/justin-long.
Tom Hanks, Idris Elba among actors who contracted the virus
While we hope that the Long brothers' suspicion does not turn out to be true, it should be noted that several actors and celebrities have actually contracted the COVID-19. They include Hollywood veteran Tom Hanks, Idris Elba, GoT star Kristofer Hivju, Indira Varma, Olga Kurylenko, and Rachel Matthews. The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 59,160 lives and infected more than 10 lakh around the world.
