The relationship between Bieber and Hailey dates back to 2009 when they first met during one of Bieber's appearances on the Today show. A 12-year-old Hailey's meet-and-greet with the Canadian teenage heartthrob was facilitated by her father-actor Stephen Baldwin. Romance rumors started swirling around them after they reconnected at church in 2014, but both consistently denied these speculations. Despite the denials, their relationship eventually blossomed into a romantic one.
Bieber's fear of commitment and their subsequent reunion
Although the duo sparked dating rumors throughout 2014-2015, confirmation (sort of) came in 2016. In an interview with GQ, Bieber expressed his fear of committing to an exclusive relationship with Hailey. He voiced his concerns saying, "What if Hailey ends up being the girl I'm gonna marry, right? If I rush into anything, if I damage her, then it's always gonna be damaged." The couple experienced a significant split in 2016 but reunited two years later in June 2018.

The model told the Sunday Times in May 2023 about wanting children. "I want kids so bad but I get scared. It's enough that people say things about my husband...I can't imagine having to confront people saying things about a child." A month after their fifth wedding anniversary in September, Hailey discussed pregnancy rumors. She said when the day comes, "the internet will be the last to know."
