Jorah Mormont is a fictional character that appears in the fantasy television drama series ‘Game of Thrones’ which is an adaptation of a series of fantasy novels titled ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ by George RR Martin. The character was introduced in the 1996s ‘A Game of Thrones.’ He has subsequently appeared in ‘A Clash of Kings,’ ‘A Storm of Swords,’ and ‘A Dance with Dragons.’ The character has been portrayed by Scottish actor Iain Glen. Mormont is an exiled Northern lord from Westeros, who was previously living in Essos. He is the son of Jeor Mormont and was originally working as a spy for Varys where he used to forward information about Viserys Targaryen and his efforts to reclaim the throne. Mormont shows immense loyalty to Daenerys Targaryen who later becomes his closest companion. The character of Mormont is portrayed as a skilled warrior who understands the customs and people of Essos well which eventually proves invaluable to Daenerys’s journey. In the novels, he is not a point of view character and therefore his actions are interpreted through Tyrion Lannister and Daenerys. In season 8, Mormont dies during the Battle of Winterfell.
