Jon Bon Jovi saves woman from suicide attempt in Nashville
Legendary rock musician and Hollywood singer-actor Jon Bon Jovi recently saved a woman from a suicide attempt on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville. The incident reportedly occurred while the artist was shooting a music video. A video of the event, shared by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, shows Bon Jovi talking to the woman and persuading her not to jump off the bridge.
Bon Jovi's intervention caught on camera
The video shows Bon Jovi and his team noticing a woman standing on the edge of the bridge. The musician approaches her and engages in conversation, joined by another bystander. Although the content of their discussion is unclear, they gradually successfully convince her to step back from the ledge. The video ends with them assisting her over the railing and walking away together.
Nashville Police Department commends Bon Jovi's actions
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department shared the video on their X account, praising Bon Jovi and his team for their intervention. "Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety," they wrote. "It takes all of us to help keep each other safe," added Chief John Drake in his statement accompanying the video.
The musician's history of philanthropy through JBJ Soul Foundation
This act of kindness aligns with Bon Jovi's long-standing commitment to philanthropy. In 2006, he founded the JBJ Soul Foundation, "a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating hunger, poverty, and homelessness." The foundation provides help in establishing programs that offer food, affordable housing, and social services, focusing on youth and veterans. What began as a small initiative in Philadelphia has now expanded into a nationwide organization serving thousands across 12 states.
