Joaquin Phoenix-Lady Gaga's 'Joker 2' opens at ₹5cr
The Hollywood sequel Joker: Folie a Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix, has had a decent start at the Indian box office. Released on Wednesday (Gandhi Jayanti), it raked in ₹5 crore net on its opening day, reported Sacnilk. It is pitted against Jr NTR's Devara and Siddhant Chaturvedi-Raghav Juyal's Yudhra.
'Joker 2' witnessed an overall 22.70% English occupancy
According to Sacnilk's data, the film had a 22.70% English occupancy on its release day in India. 2D screenings had a 43.32% occupancy, IMAX 2D had 64.58%, and ICE and other formats were around the same percentage. The sequel is directed by Todd Phillips and distributed by Warner Bros., and Warner Bros. Pictures.

Joker 2, inspired by DC Comics characters, was made on a budget of around $190-200 million. The first Joker movie significantly changed the game for DC Comics films and was a global blockbuster, which prompted the makers to produce a second film in the franchise.
