'Rustom' auction controversy: John Abraham lends support to Akshay Kumar
John Abraham, who has shared the screen space with Akshay Kumar in films like 'Garam Masala', 'Desi Boyz' and 'Housefull 2', has come out in his support in the ongoing controversy over the 'Rustom' navy costume auction. Akshay and wife Twinkle Khanna have been under fire ever since they announced the e-auction on Twitter. Here's more.
I stand by Akshay: John
Present at a promotional event of his upcoming release 'Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran', John said, "I am not going to be politically correct but I stand by Akshay." Notably, John will also be seen donning the army uniform in 'Parmanu' which is slated to hit the screens on May 25.
Akshay-Twinkle have been served with a legal notice
Offended by Akshay and Twinkle's decision, Lt Col Sandeep Ahlawat has filed a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) in the Bombay High Court against the star couple. Ahlawat even threatened Twinkle with violence while protesting against the auction. "You touch our honor and we will give you a bloody nose," he wrote in an elongated post on Facebook.
The reason behind the auction
By auctioning the costume, Akshay and Twinkle were extending their support to the cause of animal rescue and welfare. They had vowed to donate the proceeds to an NGO called Janice's Trust.
