'Deserve one reply': John Abraham laments being ignored by producers
Bollywood actor John Abraham, known for his roles in successful films like Madras Cafe and Batla House, recently opened up about the challenges he faces in securing support from film producers. Despite his proven track record, the actor revealed that he still struggles to convince studio heads to back his projects. He shared these insights during a conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia.
Abraham's struggle for producers' trust
Abraham highlighted the lack of faith producers have in him, despite his successful filmography. "I produced Vicky Donor. I did films like Madras Cafe, Batla House - but till today I have to convince studio heads that this is a different film and please fund my process," he said. "Till today they don't have 100 per cent faith and they tell me that budget is too much." His next, Vedaa, will release on August 15.
'My fee doesn't put a load on the film'
Abraham also discussed his approach to remuneration, stating that he doesn't charge more than his worth. "As an actor, my fee doesn't put a load on the film. I feel if the film makes money, I will make money. I don't want to load the film," he explained. "Toh meri jo aukaat hai, jo mera standard hai, I make films according to that. I am very proud of my content."
Abraham's communication woes with studio heads
The actor also shared his annoyance over studio heads not responding to his messages due to his absence on WhatsApp. "First, I don't have WhatsApp so if I send an SMS to people, they don't respond to me. I don't get a reply for very long," he said. He recalled an incident where a studio head failed to respond even after 4.5 months. "I don't feel bad but I deserve one reply."
