Apple TV+'s 'Dark Matter' preview out: Everything to know
A new sci-fi thriller series is all set to enthrall audiences! Titled Dark Matter, Apple TV+ recently unveiled a preview of the series starring Joel Edgerton and Oscar-winning actor Jennifer Connelly. Scheduled to premiere on May 8, the initial two episodes will be released first with subsequent episodes airing every Wednesday until June 26. From plot to cast, know everything about Dark Matter.
'Dark Matter': A journey into alternate realities
Created by Blake Crouch, Dark Matter is an adaptation of his popular namesake novel. The story revolves around Jason Dessen, a physicist, professor, and family man portrayed by Edgerton, whose ordinary nighttime walk in Chicago leads him to an alternate reality. His journey back home becomes a horrifying experience as he encounters different versions of himself and his family. "Dark Matter is a story about the road not taken," reads the show's description.
Crouch: The driving force behind 'Dark Matter'
Crouch plays a pivotal role in the series as its creator, executive producer, and writer. Matt Tolmach and David Manpearl are executive producing for Matt Tolmach Productions, with Edgerton also serving as a producer. Notably, Dark Matter isn't Crouch's first foray into TV adaptation. His book trilogy, Wayward Pines, served as the basis for the 2015 television series of the same name. Nonetheless, Crouch enjoys significantly more creative autonomy with Dark Matter compared to his involvement in Wayward Pines.
'Dark Matter' trailer overshared plot details but interest remains
Despite revealing a significant plot twist from the book in its trailer about the "story's villain being an alternate version of its hero," the series promises an intriguing storyline. The unexpected disclosure has sparked discussions among fans but hasn't dampened their enthusiasm for the upcoming show. Dark Matter trailer isn't the only culprit when it comes to revealing too much about the plot. Nowadays, several OTT shows have been accused of doing the same.
'Dark Matter': A stellar cast and high expectations
Apart from Edgerton, the ensemble cast also includes Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, and Oakes Fegley. Given Apple TV+'s reputation for delivering high-quality sci-fi shows like Silo, Foundation, Invasion, and Severance, audiences are anticipating Dark Matter to be expertly produced and visually impressive. Dark Matter is set to span nine episodes, promising a thrilling viewing experience for fans of the genre.
