JioCinema launches Anime Hub; 'Demon Slayer' in new slate
JioCinema, the streaming service owned by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, is elevating its entertainment offerings with the introduction of an Anime Hub. This new feature will showcase a variety of popular Japanese anime titles starting from Sunday (May 12). The global simulcast of Season 4 of Demon Slayer will be the headline act for this initiative. Other notable titles include Spy x Family, Assassination Classroom, and Mob Psycho 100.
Expanding anime offerings to boost the 'Otaku' community
The Anime Hub is a strategic move by JioCinema to expand the Otaku (anime fan) community in India. It will feature a specialized selection of hits and hidden gems like Bofuri: I Hate Getting Hurt, and My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! The anime content is licensed by Taiwan-based company Muse Communication. This initiative aims to make JioCinema the top streaming platform in India by offering low-cost premium tier plans.
JioCinema Premium to offer affordable access to anime hub
The Anime Hub will appeal to viewers due to JioCinema's low costs. The platform offers monthly plans starting at ₹29 for a single device or ₹89 for a family plan covering four devices. In addition to anime, the streaming service also provides free access to the popular Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament. A JioCinema spokesperson stated to Variety, "Our latest offering, Anime Hub offers a world of content that will keep anime fans entertained."
Anime's rising popularity in India reflected in JioCinema's move
The launch of the Anime Hub underscores the immense popularity of anime in India. This trend is also evident from Warner Bros. Discovery's focus on the genre on its broadcast channels slate. The spokesperson added, "From simulcast real-time global releases to hundreds of hours of top anime titles, we are confident that JioCinema's Anime Hub will grow to become a destination of choice for anime fans in India."
