Alec Baldwin, Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger—Epstein's shocking contact list unveiled
What's the story
The US Justice Department has released several documents related to the late notorious sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
The release includes his contact list, flight logs, and a wealth of evidence collected against him by the government.
Although the documents span around 200 pages, they do not reveal anything new but reiterate ties between Epstein and several high-profile personalities, including late pop icon Michael Jackson.
Context
Why does this story matter?
Epstein was accused of sexually abusing underage girls in the 2000s but ultimately served only 13 months in jail.
In 2019, he was indicted again—more than a decade after securing a secret plea deal with federal prosecutors in Florida that allowed him to avoid similar sex trafficking charges. The case garnered widespread attention due to Epstein's connections to powerful figures, including royals, presidents, and billionaires.
On August 10, 2019, Epstein was found dead in his jail cell.
Notable names
Epstein's contact list features prominent celebrities and politicians
The contact list revealed by the Justice Department features several high-profile personalities, including Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger, late pop icon Jackson, actor Alec Baldwin, and Ethel Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s mother.
Other prominent names in Epstein's contacts include former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, supermodel Naomi Campbell, musician Courtney Love, actor Ralph Fiennes, lawyer Alan Dershowitz, actor Dustin Hoffman, Ivana Trump (Trump's first wife), and Ivanka Trump (Trump's daughter).
List details
The contact list is not a client list: Report
Per the New York Times report, it's worth noting that the contact list is not a "client list," but rather a compilation of names from Epstein's vast personal and professional network.
The addresses and contact information of the individuals were redacted in the released documents.
Most, if not all, of these names had been previously reported in various lawsuits and document leaks related to the sex trafficking case over the years.
Further disclosures
Additional documents and flight logs were also released
Along with the contact list, the Department also released a redacted list of masseuses, along with an inventory of over 150 pieces of evidence. The list includes items such as nude photographs, massage tables, and sex toys. Their names were blacked out as they were victims.
Epstein's private jet flight logs—the "Lolita Express"—were included in the release too.
The records showed footballer David Rodgers's signature for the flights. Rodgers has previously testified in court about his experiences flying Epstein around.
Past revelations
Epstein's 'little black book' and its history
Epstein's infamous "little black book" first emerged in a 2009 court case and was subsequently published by the now-defunct site Gawker in 2015.
That book, from 2004 and 2005, had prominent names such as former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Jagger, Prince Andrew, Cuomo, Baldwin, singer Jimmy Buffet, industrialist David Koch, and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
The book with Epstein's 1990s contacts emerged years later and had 349 names.
