Janhvi Kapoor's 'no-bald' rule in films is linked to Sridevi
Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor has unequivocally stated that she will not shave her head for any film role, regardless of the opportunity it may present. The statement was made during an appearance with co-star Roshan Mathew on the IMDb segment On The Scene. They were discussing their upcoming political thriller Ulajh—a compelling narrative of love, sacrifice, and resilience directed by Sudhanshu Saria—which is set to hit theaters on Friday.
'Going bald is something I refuse to do...'
When asked about any limitations she sets for her roles, Kapoor responded, "I have dislocated my shoulder, I've bled, broken bones, and put myself through all kinds of trauma and torture, but going bald is something I refuse to do." "Even for Ulajh, Sudhanshu wanted me to cut my hair short and it was my biggest fight with him." "They can just put a bald cap on or use VFX," she added.
Kapoor's hair: A tribute to her late mother
Kapoor's refusal to cut her hair for any role is deeply connected to her relationship with her late mother, cine icon Sridevi. She recalled an incident during the filming of Dhadak when she cut her hair short and "she (Sridevi) was like, 'How could you?'" "Every third or fourth day, she used to put oil in my hair and massage my head. She was very proud of my hair. So I will not cut my hair," Kapoor stated.
Kapoor's role in 'Ulajh' and co-stars
In Ulajh, Kapoor portrays an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer named Suhana, the youngest Deputy High Commissioner tasked with a challenging mission at the London embassy. The film also features Adil Hussain, Rajesh Tailang, Meiyang Chang, Rajendra Gupta, Jitendra Joshi, and Gulshan Devaiah as an undercover agent.
