For 'Rooh-Afza', Janhvi to follow Sridevi's footsteps: Here's how
Janhvi Kapoor, who made her stunning debut with Dhadak last year, has now signed her fourth project. And for this, she is set to follow her mother Sridevi's footsteps. Wondering how? Well, Janhvi will be seen in a double role in this film, and it can be safely said that double-role is actually Sridevi's domain, as she has done in it in seven films.
Sridevi was known as Lady Amitabh Bachchan for her acting
Of the seven films, in Lamhe and Khuda Gawah, Sridevi played the roles of both the mother and daughter. In other films, Guru, Naaka-Bandi, Chaalbaaz, Banjaran, and Gurudev, her characters were twins. She played with such conviction that she was known as Lady Amitabh Bachchan. Interestingly, Bachchan has played dual roles in as many as 15 films, like Mahaan, Don, Aakhree Raasta, among others.
Janhvi to play double role for the first time
Coming back to Janhvi's film, it will be a horror-comedy, Rooh-Afza, produced by Dinesh Vijan, known for Stree, Luka Chuppi, Cocktail and Badlapur. She will be seen opposite Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma. Janhvi is currently working on Takht and Gunjan Saxena biopic. Talking about her role, Dinesh stated that he needed someone who could portray two contrasting personalities with conviction.
Co-producer Mrighdeep Singh Lamba says Janhvi 'is the perfect casting'
"You will fall in love with her in one scene and won't believe she is the same girl in the next one. It is not an easy switch for an actor. It is the perfect casting," co-producer Mrighdeep Singh Lamba was quoted saying.
Janhvi expresses her 'super duper extraaaa' excitement for 'Rooh-Afza'
'Comedy is a space Rajkummar, Varun excel in and out'
On actors Rajkummar and Varun, Dinesh stated, "For Rooh-Afza, we needed actors who could jump into their roles with unabashed conviction. Rajkummar and Varun are phenomenal actors, comedy is a space they excel in and out." Notably, this will be Rajkummar's second horror-comedy after Stree.
'Rooh-Afza' to hit floors in June, to release next year
Helmed by Hardik Mehta, Rooh-Afza will, reportedly, hit the floors in June this year and will release on March 20 next year. Currently, Janhvi is busy shooting for Gunjan Saxena biopic titled Kargil Girl, wherein she plays the role of an Indian Air Force pilot.
