What's the story

Just weeks before the release of her debut film 'Dhadak', the otherwise media-shy Janhvi Kapoor gave us a peek into her life. Though she always wanted to be a part of Hindi cinema, her late mom Sridevi wasn't too happy with her career decision, initially. Being from Bollywood herself, Sridevi knew it would not be easy for her daughter. Like any other mom, the legendary actress was just being protective.

Quote

This is what Janhvi said

"I told my mom and she said, 'Please reconsider your decision'. She always felt that I am too naive. Mom and dad are very protective of me. They didn't think I was equipped to deal with the non-creative aspect of filmmaking," Janhvi told a leading daily.

But, Sridevi saw rushes of 'Dhadak' before leaving for Dubai

Janhvi further revealed once her parents saw she was serious, they were on-board. Goes without saying, Sridevi was excited to see Janhvi on the celluloid. She was waiting with bated breath for her debut film 'Dhadak' to hit the screens. But, unfortunately, destiny intervened and she left for the heavenly adobe just months before the film's release. She, however, did see rushes of 'Dhadak'.

Reaction

And, she was relieved Janhvi didn't try to imitate her

Sridevi's husband, Boney said, in an interview, that they were worried that Janhvi would try and act like her mother but when they saw few scenes of her film, they felt proud. "Just before we left for Dubai, we saw the rushes of 'Dhadak'. Sri was relieved that Janhvi's acting style was not influenced by hers," Boney said.

Do you know?

Notably, 'Dhadak' will be dedicated to Sridevi and rightly so

Goes without saying, Sridevi was eagerly awaiting the release of her daughter's debut film. Therefore, to honor the late Bollywood legend, the makers of 'Dhadak' have decided to dedicate the film to her.
