'No truth': James Gunn denies Barry Keoghan-led Joker series rumors
The Batman Epic Crime Saga, a franchise set in DC Elseworlds, has been growing ever since The Batman Part 1 was released. The Matt Reeves directorial, starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, gave audiences a fresh take on Gotham City. It also paved the way for the acclaimed spinoff show The Penguin on HBO Max. Just recently, rumors of a Joker series starring Barry Keoghan emerged, leaving fans excited. Now, filmmaker James Gunn has quashed the speculations.
'A Joker series is not being discussed...'
Keoghan first appeared as the Joker in The Batman Part 1, sending fans into a frenzy over his future in the DC Universe. Rumors claimed Gunn and Reeves were developing a Joker series with Keoghan leading it. However, when asked about it on Threads, Gunn said, "A Joker series is not being discussed nor has even come up at this time." He added, "No, there is absolutely no truth to this."
Reeves's remarks on Keoghan's future as Joker
In a recent interview with Variety, Reeves spoke about Keoghan's future as the Joker. He confirmed that Keoghan was indeed playing the character, but clarified that his appearance wasn't a teaser for future films. "It's not an Easter egg scene. It's not one of those end credits Marvel or DC scenes where it's going, like, 'Hey, here's the next movie!' In fact, I have no idea when or if we would return to that character in the movies."
