'Jalsa' trailer: Vidya Balan, Shefali Shah lead this engaging whodunit
The trailer of Jalsa is finally here! Starring ace actors Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah, the almost two-minute-long clip indicates that the film will be a thriller that will try to find out the person who has killed Shah's daughter in a hit-and-run. Balan plays a top journalist in the film that has the tagline, "One truth that becomes everyone's secret."
What did the trailer show?
The trailer jumps right to the point that shows a yellow T-shirt-clad young girl being hit by a car. Soon, we see a junior journalist (Vidhatri Bandi) expressing interest in cracking the "high-profile" case. The following frames establish that Jalsa will not be your run-of-the-mill thriller as truth here is "stranger than fiction," as the team suggested while sharing the trailer on Wednesday.
What did the producer say of this film?
While talking of the film, co-producer Bhushan Kumar said, "Jalsa is one of the most gripping and entertaining films that we have been a part of at T-Series." Abundantia Entertainment is the other producer of this film. Jalsa marks the seventh collaboration between Amazon Prime Video and Abundantia, after Chhorii (2021), Balan-starrers Shakuntala Devi (2020) and Sherni (2021), the Breathe series, and Ram Setu.
For now, 'Jalsa' does not have much competition
Jalsa releases on Amazon Prime Video on March 18. For now, no other Indian film or show is hitting OTT services on that day, except for Netflix's Eternally Confused and Eager for Love. The comedy drama stars Vihaan Samat, Rahul Bose, Suchitra Pillai, and Jim Sarbh. As far as theatrical releases go, Akshay Kumar's Bachchhan Paandey is the only Hindi release that day.
What more do we know of 'Jalsa'?
Directed by Suresh Triveni, Jalsa co-stars Rohini Hattangadi, Iqbal Khan, Manav Kaul, Gurpal Singh, and Surya Kasibhatla. Triveni had directed both Balan and Kaul in Tumhari Sulu (2017), where they played a married couple. Notably, Jalsa is the maiden collaboration of Balan and Shah. Shah was last seen in Disney+ Hotstar's Human, while Balan's last two outings were Sherni and Shakuntala Devi.
