Jackie Shroff unapologetic about cussing during behind-the-scenes of polio ad
Veteran Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff recently discussed the unexpected cultural impact of a Marathi expletive he used in a behind-the-scenes video from a 1998/99 public service announcement (PSA) for polio eradication. The video, which went viral on social media, showed Shroff struggling with the Hindi dialogues and humorously reacting to his mistakes. The actor's frequent use of the expletive "maushi chi..." in the clip has since become a part of Indian pop culture.

Shroff spoke about the cultural impact of the expletive during a recent appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast. He acknowledged that while some people enjoyed it, others did not. However, he highlighted that it helped raise awareness about polio. "I tell them, if nothing else, it at least helped people learn about polio and the importance of administering the drops to kids," he said.
Shroff admits difficulty with Hindi dialogues during ad shoot
During the podcast, Shroff admitted that he had difficulty pronouncing some of the Hindi words in the ad. "I tried hard (to deliver the lines). Some words are difficult to pronounce, right? That's what happened that day. But we later created another ad, which turned out really well." He also highlighted the need for increased awareness about Thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder that results in less hemoglobin than normal in the body.
Shroff's upcoming projects include 'Singham Again' and 'Baby John'
On the work front, Shroff was last seen in Vijay Maurya's comedy-drama Mast Mein Rehne Ka, where he shared the screen with Neena Gupta.
