On India visit, Ivanka Trump dons an Anita Dongre sherwani
During their India visit, all the nitty-gritty surrounding Trumps were covered with great detail. After a grand welcome in Ahmedabad on Monday, the President of the United States Donald Trump along with his family attended a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi today. But it was Trump's daughter, Ivanka, who grabbed eyeballs, as she donned a stunning sherwani by Indian designer Anita Dongre.
Ivanka sported a full-sleeved Murshidabad silk sherwani
As she arrived at the Rashtrapati Bhavan with her husband Jared Kushner, Ivanka looked gorgeous in an all-white ensemble. For the special occasion, Ivanka opted an Indo-western fusion by Dongre, comprising a full-sleeved bandhgala sherwani made from handwoven Murshidabad silk and straight-fit pants. She completed the look with mid-parted open hair, a pair of traditional gold Polki earrings, and a pair of ballerina flats.
Earlier today, Ivanka posted this picture from Hyderabad House
Dongre called the garment "timeless and classic"
Speaking about the garment, Dongre said, "Ivanka is wearing a sherwani made out of handwoven silk from Murshidabad, West Bengal. It is timeless and such a classic." "We created this style twenty years ago and it's amazing to see how beautifully relevant it is even today. A powerful, standout silhouette, a sherwani carries the same charisma in absolutely any color," the acclaimed designer added.
Many women leaders have worn clothing designed by Dongre
Before Ivanka, many women leaders from around the world have worn clothing designed by Dongre. They include Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau (wife of Justin Trudeau), former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Ivanka previously visited India in 2018
Meanwhile, yesterday, Ivanka was seen wearing a blue midi-dress with red floral prints by Proenza Schouler. She completed the look with emerald and pearl earrings and red stilettos. Notably, while it is President Trump's first India visit after being elected, Ivanka previously visited India in 2018. Ending the two-day visit, the Trumps will travel back to US this evening.
