Sudhir Mishra to direct Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bhumi Pednekar in 'Afwaah'
After Serious Men, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is collaborating once again with Sudhir Mishra for a "quirky thriller" titled Afwaah. Bhumi Pednekar will be the female lead in the film and this will be her first project with both Mishra and Siddiqui. Anubhav Sinha will produce the venture via his Benaras Mediaworks along with Bhushan Kumar's T-Series. The shooting schedule will take place in Alwar, Rajasthan.
Why does this story matter?
When the satirical comedy-drama Serious Men got accolades globally, even landing up with an Emmy nomination, it wasn't a surprise. That's because when Siddiqui, one of India's best actors today, and Mishra, a director par excellence team up, it will be nothing short of magic. So, this time, too, it's going to be a worthy film. Also, Siddiqui-Pednekar's pairing sounds pretty interesting and unusual.
What did Mishra say of the project?
While talking of Afwaah, Mishra said, "It's a story I have lived with for a long time and I've only worked each day to make it quirky and twisted. Beneath all of the quirkiness lies a crucial message which I want my viewers to take back home with them." "Bhumi and Nawaz are both such powerhouse performers and together they bring a fresh chemistry."
Siddiqui feels 'glad' to be part of 'Afwaah'
On his part, Siddiqui said, "Working with Sudhir on Serious Men was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my career. Collaborating with him again and that too on such a unique subject is such an honor." "Both Anubhav and Sudhir are known to delve into larger socially relevant subjects. I am glad to be part of a project where they both are collaborators."
Siddiqui, T-Series, Sinha's first collaboration
This is Siddiqui's first film with T-Series and Sinha, but Pednekar's second venture with Sinha after Bheed, which co-stars Rajkummar Rao. T-Series and Pednekar have also worked together on films like Bheed, Pati Patni Aur Woh, and Durgamati. Meanwhile, Afwaah will deal with rumor-mongering and the repercussions it has on people, a much-relevant subject in today's times. Makers haven't announced any release date yet.
