Is Ishaan Khattar bearing the brunt of being Shahid's brother?
Rajesh Khattar and Neelima Azeem's son Ishaan Khattar forayed into the film industry with renowned Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi's big project 'Beyond The Clouds'. 'Beyond The Clouds', premiered at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, but Ishaan seemed rather cheesed off when he was called a "star son". Here's one more on nepotism!
When Ishaan was called a star-kid
In the IFFI, a journalist, perhaps taking a dig at Ishaan's choice, asked him, "Being a star's son, what made you choose this film as your first film?" Irked Ishaan asked him to define a "star son". He went on to say that when he was offered the film, he seized it with both hands because he is a great admirer of Majid's work.
On being called a product of nepotism
Recently, the nepotism debate sparked off yet again when Karan Johar announced that Ishaan would be the male lead of his film 'Dhadak', which is a Hindi adaptation of Marathi film 'Sairat'. People alleged that he was cast because he is Shahid's brother. Coming to Ishaan's rescue, his father Rajesh Khattar said that he was cast in Dhadak because he fits the bill.
Rajesh Khattar seems baffled by Shahid's name being taken
Shahid, who has good terms with his step-dad Rajesh Khattar, is quite baffled by the fact that people are accusing Ishaan of bagging the film because of him. "How was nepotism applicable in Shahid's case? His parents, Pankaj Kapur-Neelima Azeem - were not huge stars. He made his way up. Today, they are targetting Ishaan for being Shahid's brother," he quipped.
