Navjot Singh Sidhu to make a comeback on 'TKSS' soon?
The Kapil Sharma Show landed in serious trouble after its judge Navjot Singh Sidhu made controversial remarks about Pulwama terror attack. Soon, he faced the ire of the audience and was sacked from the show. While the audience was mighty pleased with his removal, it is reported that producer Salman Khan is now planning to bring Sidhu back on the show. Here's more.
Sidhu's contract with Sony TV is still on
According to a report published in Dainik Bhaskar, despite his termination from TKSS, Sony TV hasn't ended its contract with Sidhu. In fact, it also suggested that Salman is keen to bring Sidhu back and is waiting for the controversy to subside. Meanwhile, the makers of the show have also asked host Kapil and his team to refrain from commenting on the much-heated controversy.
Sidhu's statement invited severe backlash, show makers took action immediately
To recall, it all started after Sidhu defended Pakistan on Pulwama attack. He maintained an entire nation (Pakistan) can't be held responsible for the action of a handful. His statement irked the netizens who demanded his ousting from TKSS. In fact, hashtags like #boycottSidhu and #boycottkapilsharmashow trended massively on Twitter. Following the controversy, the makers decided to sack Sidhu from the show.
Kapil supported Sidhu, invited flak
Amid the controversy surrounding Sidhu, his close friend Kapil came out in his support and defended him. Addressing the issue, Kapil clarified Sidhu's statement and said, "What he said was that terrorism has no nation." He also emphasized that banning Sidhu isn't a permanent solution. Kapil's statement didn't go down well with the audience either, and they demanded a boycott of TKSS.
Then, Archana Puran Singh replaced Sidhu on 'TKSS'
Interestingly, soon after Sidhu was sacked from TKSS, he was replaced by veteran actress Archana Puran Singh as the new judge of the show. While the reports suggested that Archana had replaced Sidhu permanently, there's a buzz that she was roped in only for 20 episodes. Nevertheless, Sidhu's replacement turned beneficial for TKSS as the show witnessed a massive surge in its TRP.
Fun fact: Archana was paid Rs. 10 lakh per episode
Furthermore, the reports also revealed that Archana was paid just Rs. 2 crore for her entire stint on TKSS. Notably, this is way less than what Sidhu was paid for TKSS. Reportedly, he was paid a whopping amount of Rs. 25 crore for an entire season of the show.
