'Maharaj' starring Junaid Khan to hit Netflix in June: Reports
Junaid Khan, son of renowned Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, is ready to step into the acting world with his debut film Maharaj. The young actor has been preparing for this career move for over four years. Now, per recent reports, Maharaj—which wrapped up shooting last October—is set to premiere on Netflix on June 14. However, an official announcement regarding the release date is yet to be made.
'Maharaj's trailer is to be dropped on this date!
According to a report from Pinkvilla, a source revealed that the film has an intricately planned promotional strategy. After a nine-day hiatus before the release, the trailer for Maharaj is scheduled to debut around June 5, reportedly. Siddharth P Malhotra directs Maharaj, known for his previous work on Yash Raj Films's Hichki, starring Rani Mukerji. Shalini Pandey, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sharvari Wagh feature in prominent roles.
Khan will be seen as an investigative journalist in 'Maharaj'
In Maharaj, revolving around the 1862 Maharaja Libel Case, Khan takes on the role of an investigative journalist probing allegations against a religious leader for inappropriate relationships with female devotees. Co-star Pandey commended Khan's dedication, describing him in a News18 interview as "a very easy-going individual. He's a delightful co-actor." This project marks YRF's third direct-to-digital venture, succeeding The Railway Men and The Romantics.
Khan's second film is already in post-production
Meanwhile, Khan has already completed shooting his second film. The project co-stars Sai Pallavi and was shot against the backdrop of Japan's Sapporo Snow Festival. Behind-the-scenes photos from this project went viral online last month, showcasing the team's determination to continue shooting for 12-14 hours per day despite challenging weather conditions. Reports suggest that Aamir has been in touch with the staff to monitor the progress of his son's projects.
Khan's other projects in pipeline and family background
Following his second film, Khan is set to start filming his third movie, a remake of the Tamil romantic comedy Love Today (2022), alongside Khushi Kapoor. Aamir is not only supporting his son's acting career but also producing this film. Khan is Aamir's eldest son from his first marriage to Reena Dutta. The couple also has a daughter named Ira Khan, and Aamir has another son named Azad from his second marriage to Kiran Rao.
