Are Kangana Ranaut's unchecked remarks getting out of hand?
No one can deny the fact that Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut is an opinionated woman and she is not afraid of voicing them. The 32-year-old actor has never shied away from a debate - be it on feminism, nepotism or on/with people who claim she is a black magic witch. However, lately, it seems Ranaut has taken it a bit too far. Here's why.
Ranaut called Bhatt's 'Gully Boy' performance 'mediocre'
Recently, Ranaut criticized her contemporary Alia Bhatt's critically-acclaimed performance in Gully Boy. She told BollywoodLife that she was embarrassed to have won a poll against Bhatt, adding, "Media has taken filmy kids love too far. Stop pampering mediocre work or else bar will never be raised." Incidentally, this is not the first time that the actor has spoken ill of Bhatt.
'I will be quiet, that's my stand,' says Bhatt
Responding to Ranaut's comments, Bhatt chose to remain dignified and told PTI, "I should not pay attention to what people say or don't say. Everybody has the right to say what they want to. I will be quiet, that's my stand."
When Ranaut called Bhatt 'Karan Johar's puppet'
In the past, Ranaut has called Bhatt 'dumb' and speaking at the India Today Conclave, the former claimed that Bhatt "shamelessly" asked her to promote Raazi, but wouldn't return the favor with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. When Bhatt responded by saying she didn't intend to or mean to offend her, Ranaut called her "Karan Johar's puppet" and asked her to "grow some spine."
Mahesh Bhatt threw a slipper at Ranaut: Rangoli Chandel
Quite recently, Rangoli Chandel, Ranaut's sister and spokesperson, had claimed that Bhatt's father, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, threw a slipper at Ranaut at the premiere of his film Woh Lamhe, in which she was the lead actor. In a tweet, Chandel had also attacked Bhatt and her mother Soni Razdan for being British citizens who "use and abuse" India's resources and "spread hatred."
Earlier this month, Rangoli attacked Bhatt and her mother
Ranaut has made a personality out of critiquing
It seems Ranaut has made a personality out of critiquing. She's been nothing but negative, be it her issues with the industry, or the problematic remarks on actor Deepika Padukone's depression while defending her controversial upcoming film Mental Hai Kya. Ranaut might revel in the praise she receives for being outspoken, but we can all do without more hatred. There's enough of that already.
