Zoya promises 'Jee Le Zaraa's happening, but fans lose hope
Zoya Akhtar, the co-writer of the much-anticipated film Jee Le Zaraa, has dismissed rumors that the project has been shelved. The film, which was announced in 2021, had been subject to speculation about its status due to reports of lead actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif walking out. However, Akhtar recently confirmed that the movie is still in progress during a media event.
Akhtar cites scheduling conflicts as reason for delay
When asked about the delay in Jee Le Zaraa's production, Akhtar cited scheduling conflicts as the primary reason. "I think aligning the three of them, their dates, and Farhan, his dates. This statement suggests that coordinating the schedules of the three lead actors—Chopra Jonas, Kaif, and Alia Bhatt—along with director Farhan Akhtar has been a challenge. But is it enough to keep fans interested? Notably, Akhtar gave similar assurances last year. But the film is yet to advance.
Bhatt's earlier comments on the film
In June, Bhatt had also addressed the status of Jee Le Zaraa in an interview with News18. She said, "I think the intention to make that film is from everybody's perspective...very, very strong." Bhatt further added, "So the intention is to make it happen. Sometimes, there is a time and place for everything and you just have to wait for the right time to come together."
'Jee Le Zaraa' marks Farhan's directorial comeback
Jee Le Zaraa is set to be a buddy road movie and will mark Farhan's return to direction after more than a decade. The film was announced on the 20th anniversary of his directorial debut, Dil Chahta Hai. However, Farhan has since announced Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani, as his next directorial venture.
Upcoming projects of the lead actors
Meanwhile, the lead actors of Jee Le Zaraa have several other projects in the pipeline. Bhatt is set to appear in upcoming films like Jigra, Love and War, and Alpha. Chopra Jonas's next release is Heads of State, and she has recently completed filming for The Bluff. Kaif, on the other hand, has not yet announced her next project. Now, it begs the question, how long will eager fans have to wait for this project?
