Where's Owen? Chris Pratt missing from 'Jurassic World Rebirth'
What's the story
The official trailer for the latest installment in the Jurassic World franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth, was dropped recently.
The film features new characters and storylines, giving a fresh start to the series.
It will be released three years after Jurassic World Dominion, the final installment of the trilogy that revived the franchise after over a decade of dormancy.
But, will it have the trilogy lead Chris Pratt in it?
Casting update
'Jurassic World Rebirth' features new cast and timeline
Jurassic World Rebirth is set five years after Dominion, but it features a completely new cast.
Scarlett Johansson plays the lead, while Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali also have prominent roles.
Fans were quick to notice the absence of franchise hero Pratt in the trailer, leading to speculation about his involvement in the film.
Casting confirmation
'Jurassic World Rebirth' is aiming for rebirth in cast, too
For now, it does look like Pratt won't be appearing in Jurassic World Rebirth.
This marks a major departure for the franchise, as Pratt's character Owen Grady—a Velociraptor trainer and animal behaviorist—was a fan favorite in the previous trilogy.
The trailer also doesn't feature Bryce Dallas Howard, another key player from earlier installments.
Plot preview
'Jurassic World Rebirth' introduces new plot and challenges
In Jurassic World Rebirth, Johansson's character Zora finds a group of dinosaurs that could help humanity.
The movie also delves into the concept that Earth is becoming uninhabitable for dinosaurs, pushing them into isolated environments similar to Earth from 65 million years ago.
This fresh take on the franchise will be revealed on July 2, 2025.
All hope is not lost, as Pratt or Dallas Howard's characters might still play cameo roles.
