Irrfan Khan returns to India after 'successful surgery' in London
Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan returned to Mumbai on Saturday after undergoing treatment for cancer in London, United Kingdom. According to reports, the 52-year-old actor had a successful surgery in London after wrapping up filming for his upcoming movie Angrezi Medium. Last year, Khan had revealed that he has been suffering from neuroendocrine tumor, a rare form of cancer. Here are more details.
Khan hid his face from cameras at Mumbai airport
Khan was spotted at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Saturday. Curiously, the actor was seated in a wheelchair and immediately covered his face upon seeing the paparazzi. Furthermore, he was wearing a white shirt, a black jacket, and a dark blue denim, along with a cap and a mask that he used to hide his face from the cameras.
He was missing home, says actor's representative
Khan's spokesperson said, "Irrfan had a successful surgery after wrapping Angrezi Medium shoot in London. He was missing home and has come to Mumbai for a few days and recover. We request the media to not speculate and thanking everyone again for the continued support."
Khan went public about cancer in March last year
In March last year, Khan had told his fans that he was suffering from a "rare disease," which he revealed to be a neuroendocrine tumor weeks later and started treatment in London. In August 2018, Khan told Associated Press, "I have had the fourth cycle of chemo. And I have to have six cycles and then we need to have a scan."
2020 release 'Angrezi Medium' will be Khan's comeback film
Directed by Homi Adajania, Angrezi Medium is a sequel to 2017 hit comedy-drama Hindi Medium. Also starring Radhika Madan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepak Dobriyal, and Pankaj Tripathi, Angrezi Medium will release in April next year. The film will be Khan's comeback movie after undergoing treatment for cancer. In June, however, a friend of Khan said that the actor will be taking a break now.
