What's next for Invincible? Twists, new faces in Season 3
What's the story
The third season of Invincible is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video this Thursday (February 6).
The official trailer, which dropped in December, teases new challenges for the 19-year-old protagonist Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), aka Invincible.
Notably, it teases a surprising alliance between Mark's boss Cecil (Walton Goggins), and villain D.A. Sinclair, hinting at a potential conflict between Mark and Cecil.
Here's what you should know before diving into the new season.
Character evolution
New developments and characters in 'Invincible' S03
Mark aside, the next season will also see younger brother Oliver, who has grown a lot since he was introduced as a baby in the second season.
Fans also got a glimpse of Invincible's new black and blue suit in the trailer, with Mark commenting that it "feels a little serious," perhaps hinting at a darker tone for the third season.
Show overview
'Invincible' series: A blend of action and coming-of-age narrative
Invincible adapts Robert Kirkman's comic series which mixes high-stakes battles with a coming-of-age story revolving around Mark.
He is the son of real estate agent Debbie (Sandra Oh) and powerful superhero Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons).
After getting his superpowers later than expected, Mark struggles to balance his new responsibilities as Invincible with his wish for a normal high-school life.
Show's future
'Invincible' renewed for 4th season, may continue beyond
Invincible has already been renewed for a fourth season and it looks like it may go even further.
The show's narrative doesn't strictly follow the order of the 144-issue comic, often interweaving different plot points, covering multiple storylines at once.
Kirkman, the creator of the comic and one of the show's writers and executive producers, has hoped for the series to run until its seventh or eighth season.
Release pattern
Season 3 to follow a weekly release schedule
A teaser trailer released in January confirmed that the third season of Invincible will not have a midseason break.
This means new episodes are expected to be released weekly until the season finale on March 13.
The second season concluded in April last year, making now the ideal time for viewers to catch up before the new season begins.
