Narrative insights
Holstein discussed potential narrative direction for 'Inside Out 3'
Holstein offered some hints on where the third film could go.
He said Riley, the franchise's protagonist, will be entering a new phase of her life which will give "new fodder to create something cool."
"I would say that we're still enjoying the wave of fun, this second film. But I have no doubt that at some point a third, and hopefully, in my opinion, four through six, seven, eight, Inside Out should happen."
Character development
Holstein expressed hope for exploring Joy's evolution
Holstein also said he would love to explore the evolution of the character Joy as she grows older.
He added, "In every new movie, you want the game to change, and every sequel, you want the game to change at its foundation."
"And what's great about having Riley be the engine of this franchise is that she's going to enter a different chapter of her life where the foundation does change."
Unused ideas
Unexplored concepts from previous films may feature in sequel
Holstein hinted at the possibility of bringing back elements from the first two films that were previously discarded.
He specifically mentioned two emotions, Schadenfreude and Lederhosen, which were characters cut from Inside Out 2.
These characters could potentially be reintroduced in future installments of the series.
