#ComicBytes: Five times superheroes teamed up with their archenemies
Every good superhero needs a good fashioned villain. These villains act as foils, spurring on the heroes on their quest for justice. Over the years in comics, both Marvel and DC have given us fair shares of iconic superheroes and unforgettable villains. However, what happens when these heroes and villains work together? Here we look at five times superheroes teamed up with their archenemies.
Spider-Man and Venom: From villain to anti-hero
Venom started as an outright villain before being portrayed as more of an anti-hero in the comics. Eddie Brock and Peter Parker have been portrayed as antagonists in comics, but Lethal Protector decided to break the mold and saw the Venom Symbiote teaming up with Spider-Man. Maximum Carnage built on this partnership and saw the two take on the murderous alien progeny, Carnage.
Green Lantern and Sinestro: Putting aside differences to fight threat
Green Lantern or Hal Jordan is powered by the ring of hope while Sinestro, his former team-mate, draws power from the Yellow Ring of fear. While they have always been enemies and Green Lantern had also killed Sinestro at one point, New 52 saw the two team up. Putting aside differences Jordan and Sinestro fought a looming cosmic threat together.
Thor and Loki: Taking on Surtur to defend Asgard
Thor and Loki are clearly enemies. While the former might believe in his brother, Loki has always been a thorn in Thor's side. However, in Thor #353, Loki's streak did break as he teamed up with Odin and Thor trying to stop Surtur from reuniting with the Eternal Flame and wreaking havoc. The image of the two brothers fighting together is powerful!
Superman and Lex Luthor: Putting aside an iconic rivalry
Lex Luthor and Superman share one of comic's most iconic rivalries. The super-intelligent owner of Lex Corporation has tried on more than one occasion to defeat and kill the Man of Steel. However, after 2013's Forever Evil crossover event, we see Luthor teaming up with Superman and serve as a member of the Justice League. It was interesting to see the enemies work together.
Batman and Joker: Destined to do this dance forever
There is no enmity more violent and iconic than the one between Batman and Joker. The Clown Prince of Crime has driven the Dark Knight of Gotham to impossible limits, almost breaking the caped crusader's code. However, their recent team up in the Metal series is one of the most unforgettable, as Joker teamed up with Batman to take down the Batman Who Laughs.
