Salman's security breach: Indian Cine Workers Association seeks PM's intervention
What's the story
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) made an urgent appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday, requesting enhanced security measures for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
This plea comes following a shooting incident near Khan's residence, where two unidentified individuals reportedly discharged six bullets into the air early Sunday morning (around 5:00 am) before fleeing the scene.
The investigation is underway.
Security fears
'It raises concerns about safety of ordinary citizens...'
The AICWA expressed its concern for the safety of Mumbai's residents, especially given that the event took place in one of Mumbai's most posh areas—Bandra.
"The fact that gunfire is occurring in Mumbai, especially in the city's most VIP area, raises concerns about the safety of ordinary citizens when Salman Khan himself is not safe...In the current Election atmosphere, gangsters are brazenly firing shots," read their statement.
Industry threat
'Gangsters could exploit this fear to extort money': AICWA
AICWA further highlighted the potential repercussions of this incident on Bollywood and its actors.
"AICWA appeals to the PM and Home Minister to pay more attention to Salman's security and eliminate the groups responsible for the shooting...This incident has created a climate of fear in the entire Bollywood Film Industry."
The statement further emphasized, "Gangsters could exploit this fear to extort money from Bollywood, as Salman Khan, often called the Godfather of Bollywood, is being targeted."
Call to action
The organization appealed for action against the perpetrators
Concluding their lengthy note, AICWA called on authorities to take action against those responsible.
"It's imperative for the authorities to take action against these perpetrators to prevent further incidents of firing, as every life matters, and the entire Bollywood industry, as well as the Nation, stands firmly with Salman Khan," it said.
To note, after the incident happened, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.
The motive behind this alarming act remains unclear.

Footage
Meanwhile, CCTV footage of suspected shooters surfaces online
Hours after the incident, CCTV footage from outside Khan's residence surfaced online, capturing the suspected shooters.
The video reportedly shows two individuals riding a motorcycle at a relative speed.
Notably, this incident has once again raised alarm, particularly given previous threats against Khan.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) disclosed last year that Khan was high on a target list compiled by incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
The police are looking for a breakthrough in the case.
