IFFM: '12th Fail' wins Best Film; Kartik declared Best Actor
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024 announced its winners on Friday, with the Vikrant Massey-starrer 12th Fail bagging the Best Film award. Kartik Aaryan won the Best Actor award for Chandu Champion. The festival, which kicked off on August 15, will continue till August 25. It was inaugurated with a press conference attended by several prominent figures from the Indian film industry.
'Dunki' and AR Rahman are also among the awardees
Apart from 12th Fail and Chandu Champion, other films and artists were also recognized at the festival. Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki won the Equality in Cinema award, while Telugu actor Ram Charan was named Ambassador for Indian Art and Culture. Music composer AR Rahman bagged an award for Excellence in Cinema. The Best Film Critics' Choice Award went to Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies.

Coming to other winners, Parvathy Thiruvothu won Best Performance (Female) for Ullozhukku; Kabir Khan and Nithilan Swaminathan won Best Director for Chandu Champion and Maharaja, respectively; Massey bagged Best Performer Critics Choice for 12th Fail; Netflix's Kohrra clinched Best Series; and Amar Singh Chamkila won Breakout Film of The Year, among other awards. The festival was also attended by stars including Rima Das, Adarsh Gourav, Lakshya, and Sona Mohapatra.
