Cannes round-up: Kangana stuns, Deepika steals limelight, Priyanka's smashing debut
Indian actresses have been making quite a splash on the red carpet of Cannes film festival. Right from Deepika Padukone stunning all with her sartorial choices, to Kangana Ranaut's old-school charm, and Priyanka Chopra's shimmering red carpet debut, fans are enjoying every bit of it. Cocktail actress Diana Penty, TV actress Hina Khan, and Kashmira Shah also made their debut. Here's a wrap.
Different looks: Boss lady wearing pant-suit, princess in pink-lavender gown
Kangana, who is attending Cannes for the second time, left everyone gasping for more when she wore Falguni Shane Peacock corset, a Kanjeevaram sari by Madhurya Creations, and burgundy-colored gloves on day 1. She then wore a black Nedret Taciroglu pant-suit, looking like a boss lady. Yesterday, on the red carpet, she was seen in a pink and lavender hued gown by Micheal Cinco.
Kangana's party wear: Single-sleeved white gown, blue eye makeup
The Gangster actress teamed her gown with just an ear top, making her look elegant and every bit like a princess. She also attended the Chopard party wearing a quirky white dress, a single-sleeved gown by Australian fashion designer Toni Maticevski. She put blue eye makeup, and wore emerald and diamond earrings. Her gladiator shoes in a contrasting color made her look edgy.
At the Indian Pavilion, Kangana spoke on nationalism, film technicians
Kangana, who was the face of a French vodka brand, also spoke at the Indian Pavilion of the international film festival, where she highlighted the poor working conditions of technicians on a film set. She also spoke about her idea of nationalism, and how senior actresses like Neena Gupta and Madhuri Dixit are making a comeback, without being judged for their age.
On day 1, Deepika wore a cream gown, looked sassy
Meanwhile, Deepika, representing a French cosmetics brand, burned the red carpet right from day 1. On the first day, she wore a cream gown by Peter Dundas, which had a front slit, plunging neckline, and exaggerated sleeves. An oversized black bow in front added to sassiness. She completed the look via Arianda Grande-type hairdo, strappy stilettos, diamond earrings, massive ring and chunky silver bracelets.
Deepika left all wondering why is she changing so often
On day 2, Deepika left her fans wondering why she was changing her clothes so often. She sported four looks in quick succession. First, she wore a striped LOEWE pantsuit, then a black-neon tulle dress by Off White, followed by a white lace shirt and white pants by Philosophy, and finally a floral Erdem dress. "Bawse," Ranveer Singh commented on Deepika's pantsuit look.
Yesterday, Deepika ended her Cannes sojourn in a lime-green gown
Yesterday was Deepika's day 2 at the red carpet, and also her last. So she made sure that she leaves an indelible mark on it. She went bold, over-the-top, and stepped out of her comfort zone by opting for a lime green Giambattista Valli gown, and wearing a pink turban, her hair tied up. She also shared a video, and Ranveer went crazy.
Priyanka made a scintillating debut on Thursday, Nick joined later
It was Priyanka's debut at the Cannes red carpet on Thursday, and she wore a thigh-high slit glittering strapless gown by Roberto Cavalli, and kept her jewelry to a minimum. During the day, she also stepped out of her hotel wearing a white outfit, and sunglasses. Husband Nick Jonas joined her on the second day, that is yesterday, and both attended Chopard's party.
Priyanka-Nick's PDAs on red carpets have become annoying now
For the party, Priyanka wore a lavender snake pattern dress with a small cape, silver jewelry and unusual white heels. Nick looked dapper in a black suit. As has become the norm for them, they indulged in PDA this time too, albeit hesitantly. Must say, this norm is no more sweet, rather has become annoying. How about going solo at times, Priyanka and Nick?
Debutantes this year: Diana Penty, Hina Khan, Kashmira Shah
Apart from Priyanka, Diana, Hina and Kashmira also made their debut this year. While Diana is representing the same brand as Kangana, Hina was there for the screening of her film, Lines, and Kashmira graced the occasion to attend the inauguration of the India Pavilion as a speaker. Cannes is also expecting Sonam Kapoor, and its regular, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, sometime next week.
