Why Imtiaz is not interested in 'Jab We Met' sequel
What's the story
The buzz of a potential sequel to the beloved Hindi film Jab We Met took over social media recently.
The speculation was fueled by the reunion of the film's lead actors Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan at the IIFA 2025 press conference.
Reacting to it, Imtiaz Ali, the director of Jab We Met, said that he finds it "interesting."
However, he dismissed the chances of a sequel.
Director's perspective
'I think everybody has moved on...'
Ali told PTI, "Actually, I find it very interesting that Shahid and Kareena met at IIFA 2025 and people are talking to me about Jab We Met."
He added, "Shahid has said that he thinks that I have moved on, but I think that everybody has moved on."
"It's been a long time since Jab We Met. I think we should savor that and we should not spoil it by coming up with a sequel at all."
Director's admiration
Ali expressed admiration for the actors
Ali gushed over both Kapoor and Kapoor Khan, saying, "I'm not really planning a movie with Shahid and Kareena per se, but it's great that they met and they're both very fantastic actors."
"I obviously had the greatest time working with both of them."
The film was released in 2007 and is streaming on Amazon Prime Video and JioHotstar.
Kapoor's response
Kapoor downplayed the reunion's significance
Kapoor, for his part, played down the importance of his reunion with Kapoor Khan.
He told the media, "For us, it's nothing new. Aaj stage par mile, aur idhar udhar milte rehte hain (We met on stage today, and we keep running into each other here and there), toh it's totally normal for us."
"If people felt nice, it's nice."
