YouTuber offers ₹5L for bringing him Ranveer Allahbadia's 'tongue'
What's the story
Ranveer Allahbadia is receiving intense backlash for his crass comments on Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent. The remarks have sparked public outrage and possible legal action.
A written complaint has been filed against Allahbadia, influencer Apoorva Makhija (The Rebel Kid), comedian Raina, and the show's organizers.
Adding to this, social media influencer Faizan Ansari offered a cash reward of ₹5 lakh to anyone who would cut off Allahbadia's tongue.
Intervention
'If I were there, I would have cut his tongue...'
Per News18, Ansari stated in a video message: "YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia has done something so disgusting that if I were there, I would have cut his tongue. I am so ashamed...Anyone across the country who brings me his tongue, I will give a cash reward of ₹5 lakh."
Interestingly, Ansari is the same person who rewarded the autorickshaw driver with ₹11,000 for rushing Saif Ali Khan to hospital after he was stabbed by an intruder at his home.
Incident
Controversial question that sparked outrage
The controversy was sparked by a question Allahbadia asked a contestant during the episode. He asked, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day or join them to finish it once and for all?"
This question was called "offensive" and "derogatory" by netizens.
The complaint filed accuses the organizers and participants of intentionally making obscene remarks about women's private parts with the intent to gain popularity and financial benefit through the online broadcast.
Apology
Allahbadia's public apology amid ongoing controversy
In light of the backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology, calling his comments a "lapse of judgment."
He further said, "My comment wasn't just inappropriate, it wasn't even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry."
Mumbai Police confirmed an inquiry is underway but no FIR has been registered yet.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said while there is freedom of speech in India, it ends when it encroaches upon "freedom of others."
