'Developed thick skin'—Saba on constant trolling over relationship with Hrithik
What's the story
Actor-singer Saba Azad has spoken about how she deals with online trolling, specifically over her longtime relationship with actor Hrithik Roshan.
In a recent interview with SCREEN, she revealed that she has developed a "thick skin" to deal with negative comments on social media.
Despite being targeted often by trolls for her relationship status, Azad remains unfazed.
Trolling perspective
'I don't care what such people say now'
"If you are a happy person, you won't make fake accounts and troll people. Why would I care about someone from back and beyond, who is faceless, nameless, and frustrated with their lives?"
"Instead of being angry about it...I am sad that you have to do this."
"Now I have developed a thick skin for it... You can't keep coming at me and expect me to stay mum. I don't care what such people say now."
Social media stance
Azad's perspective on social media and trolling
Azad confessed to having a love-hate relationship with social media, considering it both a necessary platform for her work and a source of negativity.
She said, "I am quite terrible with social media. I post for three days in a row and then I disappear for a month."
"In a way, for performing artists, it has become sort of a portfolio. It's a 'Can't live with, can't live without' kind of relationship."
Career trajectory
Azad's career in OTT platforms and upcoming projects
Azad, who has been a part of several OTT projects like Feels Like Ishq, Rocket Boys, and Who's Your Gynac?, also spoke about her career choices.
She clarified that she doesn't only choose OTT projects but takes up any medium that comes her way.
"The scriptwriting world has exploded because of OTT. It has given avenues to directors, writers, and actors who were out of work or unsung in some way."
New series
Azad's role in ZEE5's 'Crime Beat'
Azad is currently seen in ZEE5's investigative thriller Crime Beat, which was released on February 21.
She was attracted to the series because of its unique role offering. "It was definitely the role that attracted me. I try to do something different each time...and now a thriller, which is something I had never done before," she said.
She found her experience on the show "super enriching."
Directed by Sudhir Mishra, it also stars Saqib Saleem.
