Salman Khan is guilty: What it means for business
Salman Khan was sentenced five-years jail term by a sessions court in Jodhpur in the two-decade-old blackbuck poaching case. The actor will be kept in Jodhpur Central Jail today. The superstar's fans are shocked after the verdict (obviously!), but it is Bollywood which might face the brunt of it. Here's looking at Khan's upcoming projects and how will they be affected.
With 'Bhaijaan' in jail, which project will be worst affected
Salman Khan has proved to be Bollywood's biggest asset. Last year, when stars struggled to deliver a hit, Khan gave delivered 'Tiger Zinda Hai', that grossed Rs. 339 crore in India. His next big release, scheduled for Eid, is 'Race 3', made on a budget of Rs. 100 crore, reportedly. The film is under production and he just finished a high-end schedule in Abu Dhabi.
According to trade analyst, Race 3 stands losing a lot
Before the verdict, Komal Nahta had said, "If it's more than three years, which is very unlikely, then 'Race 3' will be stuck. If that happens then he will not even be getting bail and the film will get stuck."
Bharat, Dabangg 3, Kick 2: What's next for Salman's films
Salman's Eid 2019's gift 'Bharat' is being touted his most ambitious project having a budget of Rs. 200 crore. Director Ali Abbas Zafar tweeted a few days ago that final script draft has been locked. 'Kick 2', scheduled for release in Christmas 2019 is still in pre-production, and so is 'Dabangg 3' that marks Salman's return as Chulbul Pandey.
Noise around Bollywood losing money might be false alarm
Though budget of all aforementioned movies is around Rs. 600 crore, the monetary losses will be minimum. All the movie are in pre-production stages and most likely will be delayed. Race 3's fate will be sealed only after Salman's bail hearing.
Brand 'Salman' is money-spinner for television as well
Salman's 'Dus Ka Dum' is all set to make a comeback to television after 9 years. Reportedly, he charged a whopping Rs. 78 crore for 20 episodes. The superstar is also the reason behind the success of 'Bigg Boss', and the show is a money-spinner for Colors. There's still an uncertainty if the twelfth season would air.
