How David Warner's 'Robinhood' cameo was secretly filmed

Former Australian cricketer David Warner is making his Telugu cinema debut with a guest appearance in director Venky Kudumula's upcoming film, Robinhood.
The film stars Nithiin and Sreeleela as the lead actors.
In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, Kudumula revealed that Warner's scenes were shot secretly in Australia to keep it a secret that he was a part of the film.

'I knew I wanted someone special': Kudumula on Warner's casting
Kudumula, 36, expressed his excitement over casting Warner, 38.
He said, "From the point I wrote this cameo I knew I wanted someone special. It is a very important role and when I shared with my actors and producer that David is on my mind, they were very excited and we went ahead with it."
The director also said that despite getting various offers from Tollywood, Warner was especially excited about his role in Robinhood.

Kudumula further disclosed that the team presented their idea to Warner, who was immediately on board.
To ensure the news of his cameo remained a secret, they decided to film in Australia.
When asked if Warner's role involves dance or action sequences, he responded, "I can't give away everything because it is a very small cameo, but I can assure you that it is very special for sure."

Warner's love and passion for Indian cinema, particularly Telugu films, is no secret.
He frequently posts videos on social media where he and his daughters, Ivy Mae, Indi Rae, and Isla Rose, can be seen dancing to different songs from Indian movies.
In September 2024, Warner was spotted shooting in Melbourne with an Indian crew. This sparked speculation about his participation in an Allu Arjun movie, but details weren't revealed then.

Robinhood, which also stars Rajendra Prasad and Vennela Kishore, among others, will hit theaters on March 28.
The news of Warner's debut was announced by Mythri Movies producer Ravi Shankar at an event in Hyderabad.
He said Warner's role is going to be very exciting and that he is proud to launch him in Indian cinema with Robinhood.
