James Horner feared dead in a plane crash!
James Horner, the Oscar winning composer is feared to be dead in a plane crash in California. Official reports suggest Horner was piloting a single-engine small aircraft before it crashed into a remote area about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara. Earlier reports confirmed the death of the pilot of the plane which had crashed but couldn't identify him.
Who was James Horner?
James Horner was a composer, conductor and orchestrator of film scores of American descent. An accomplished concert hall composer, Horner's career started with The Lady in Red in 1979. He was primarily known for the integration of choral and electronic elements and his frequent inputs of Celtic Musical elements in his work.

James Horner's most famous work is his music in Oscar winning movie, Titanic for whose song "My Heart Will Go On", Horner received an academy award. His other famous works include film scores and music of Somewhere Out There (1986), Field of Dreams (1989), Apollo 13 (1995), Braveheart (1995), A Beautiful Mind (2001), House of Sand and Fog (2003) and Avatar (2009).
Clash with James Cameron
After working on James Cameron's Aliens in 1986 which had really stressful music scoring sessions, Horner swore that he would never work with Cameron again. He said that it was a 'nightmare' to work with Cameron. But eventually, 10 years later, Cameron and Horner worked together on Titanic making it one of the most successful box office hits of all times.
Awards and Recognitions for James Horner
Horner won two Academy awards for his work in Titanic. One for Best Original Score and the other for Best Original Song. Titanic's song "My Heart Will Go On" fetched him numerous other awards as well including two Grammys, three Satellite awards, three Saturn awards and eight additional Oscar nominations. He also received Max Steiner Award in 2013 for his achievements in film music.
Horner's work obsession for Avatar
Horner did not take up any other projects for two years when he was composing the music of Avatar. He used to start working at four in the morning till ten at night and he followed this routine for two long years everyday!
