Priyanka Chopra's mother reveals why her son's wedding got canceled
On Saturday, Priyanka Chopra's mother Madhu revealed, without divulging much, that her son and his fiancée Ishittaa Kumar "have mutually called it (their wedding) off." A day later she revealed a bit more, and said the wedding was canceled as her son Siddharth was not ready for the nuptials yet. That ended days of speculations that started ever since Priyanka and Siddharth 'unfollowed' Ishittaa.
'My son Siddharth said he wasn't ready for marriage yet'
While talking to media, Madhu said yesterday, "My son Siddharth said he wasn't ready for marriage yet. He explained he needed more time," while admitting that "this arranged marriage was being pushed a bit in haste." While a wedding date of Siddharth and Ishittaa was never announced, but a grand reception was being planned for them in Novotel, Juhu, on April 30, was confirmed.
Priyanka had flown down for her brother's wedding festivities
In fact, Priyanka had flown down from the US to attend her brother's wedding festivities. She flew back last week, and immediately 'unfollowed' Ishittaa, while the latter removed all her roka ceremony pictures, and stopped following both Priyanka and Siddharth on Instagram. Ishittaa had also deleted her Instagram account temporarily, further giving rise to numerous speculations.
Siddharth-Ishittaa wedding was postponed because of her medical treatment
Earlier, it was reported wedding had to be postponed because Ishittaa got admitted to a hospital for an emergency surgery. Ishittaa herself had posted a couple of photos from the hospital, and wrote, "Recovering from surgery. Very painful but glad it's over." Then four days back, she posted a photo of hers sitting in a resto-bar along with a cryptic message, hinting a split.

Siddharth was earlier engaged to his girlfriend Kanika Mathur
Notably, this isn't the first time Siddharth's wedding got called off. Earlier he was to get married to his long time girlfriend Kanika Mathur in Goa on February 25, 2015, and wedding preparations had also started two months in advance, which Siddharth had confirmed on Facebook on December 4. However, few weeks later he wrote, "Single. Ready to mingle. Go Goa Gone."
Priyanka currently getting ready for this year's Met Gala
Meanwhile, Priyanka is getting ready for Met Gala, which will be held in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, tonight (Tuesday morning for India). The theme for this year's Met Gala is Camp: Notes on Fashion. Notably, Priyanka and Nick first appeared together on the red carpet at the 2017 Met Gala, sparking dating rumors, nearly a year before they got engaged.
