Jessica Jones and The Punisher, which were the last two series standing, got the axe following the cancellation of The Defenders, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Netflix and Marvel's decision to end their five-year relationship boiled down primarily to money, although creative differences also played a part. The Hollywood Reporter analyzed the situation aptly, stating, "Put simply: Netflix did not have an ownership stake in any of its Marvel TV series. Each of the six Marvel shows was owned by Disney. Netflix paid ABC Studios a (steep) licensing fee".
