Netflix brings Henry Cavill for 'The Witcher' adaptation
Henry Cavill, known for playing Superman in the DC movies, will be coming to Netflix for a new series. 'The Witcher' will be an eight-episode series starring Cavill as the protagonist, Geralt of Rivia. Notably, this marks the first time the actor will appear as a series regular after his run on 'The Tudors' from 2007 to 2010. Read all about it here.
What is 'The Witcher'?
'The Witcher' will be a series based on Andrzej Sapkowski's bestselling novel of the same name. Interestingly, it has also been adapted into a popular gaming franchise. Cavill plays Geralt, a lone wolf, and a monster hunter. He rarely fits into society. However, destiny intervenes and he teams up with a sorceress and a princess with a secret, as they navigate the dangerous lands.
Will we see Yennefer on the show?
For those unaware, Geralt's true love is a dark-haired sorceress called Yennefer. Netflix's description of destiny pairing him with a sorceress will have fans excited to see how the Geralt-Yennefer chemistry plays on screen. More importantly, fans would love to know who plays Yennefer.

Cavill is a huge fantasy game buff including games like Skyrim and World of Warcraft. In an interview, he revealed his love for 'The Witcher 3' game, saying he had played it more than once. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich who worked on Marvel's 'The Defenders' and 'Daredevil' will be the showrunner for 'The Witcher'. Directors from other noteworthy series like 'Luke Cage' and 'Game of Thrones' will also be coming on board to direct a few episodes. However, not many details have been confirmed as the project is in its nascent stage. It will likely air on Netflix in 2020.
