We are just days away from the Netflix premiere of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's regal web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Ahead of its OTT premiere, the makers held a special screening for industry guests on Wednesday night in Mumbai. The event, which took place ahead of the series' May 1 release, was attended by Bollywood and television luminaries including Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Rekha, and Sonakshi Sinha.
Bhansali posed with show star Sinha, her mother Poonam
The shared images from the event—shared by Netflix—revealed candid moments of Bhansali with Khan and Bhatt, as well as with Rekha. Light-hearted captures also featured Sinha, her mother Poonam Sinha, and Aditi Rao Hydari, among others. A monochrome image of Bhansali posing with Sinha and her mother added to the allure of the event, aptly captioned "A royal night of glitz, glamour, and grandeur."
The premiere was graced by Bollywood's finest
The premiere was further graced by the presence of Vicky Kaushal, Ananya Panday, Rashmika Mandanna, Kapil Sharma, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sussanne Khan, Zayed Khan, Karan Johar, Neetu Kapoor, Pulkit Samrat, and Kriti Kharbanda. Here's what the director said about the grand set
Recently, while discussing the scale of the series, SLB told Architectural Digest that the creation of Heeramandi's set has been an 18-year journey. The project involved the labor of 700 craftsmen and utilized approximately "60,000 wooden planks and metal frames." The set features a royal palace, a mosque, a courtyard, a dancing hall, roads, and shops among other elements. Notably, the show also serves as the comeback of No Entry actor Fardeen Khan.
Next, SLB will work on 'Love & War'
Bhansali will next work on Love & War, starring Bhatt, Kaushal, and Ranbir Kapoor. A modern take on the 1964 classic Sangam, it will be his first project with Kaushal and second each with Bhatt and Kapoor. The film is looking at a theatrical release on Christmas 2025. He also has a few unrealized projects in the pipeline, such as Inshallah and Baiju Bawra.
